Set within a landscape marked by fragmentation and diverse productive and tertiary functions, the project seeks to play a unifying role, offering a large-scale intervention that links and serves the very different environments. The proposal for a new multifunctional building—designed for tertiary, commercial, and office use—is grounded in a systemic reimagining of the area: it in fact rises as a connection between the industrial district and the city.
Its strategy is to transform a commercial building - usually an indifferentiated box - into a democratic threshold offering a public space. This vision is realized through the development of a permeable space that blends outdoor and indoor circulation, linking 7’000 m2 of commercial areas with the surrounding environment. At its core, the design responds to the powerful presence of the river and its banks. In synergy with this natural feature, the proposal envisions a vast protected riverside park, supported by a building of infrastructural scale.
