A new elementary and primary school, situated in the heart of Zuoz, sets a new reference point of collective spaces for the alpine village.
Using the existing topography as it is, a retaining mineral sanded concrete wall becomes the initial shell of the building - a generous collective set of public terraces welcome the new building, negotiating its relation to the ground.
Within that, an interior filigrane world of timber construction manages the internal layout of the school, which is growing programatically into three separate floors. Its grid-like nature defines the carachter of the spaces, while allowing a versatile and flexible organization of the internal coreography.
Reinterpreting constructive methods from Engadin region into a new scale of building, silently seeking threediminesional relations with its context.
